Georgia Deal of the Year awarded to Bartow project

Hyundai Motor Group and SK On won the Georgia Deal of the Year award in the large community category for a battery facility they are building in Bartow County. Melinda Lemmon, executive director of the Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development, nominated the Hyundai and SK On project for this honor. The awards were handed out at the Georgia Economic Development Association luncheon in Atlanta Nov. 13.

"I was pleasantly suprised," said Lemmon, about a Bartow project winning the award. "On one hand, in the best state for business with so many extraordinary projects around the state, I tried not to get my hopes up too much. At the same time, I was cautiously optimistic that this project had an excellent chance of being selected; considering all the criteria, it's really the perfect candidate."

The Development Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County with Anovion Technologies won the Small Deal of the Year. The Development Authority of Bryan County with Hyundai MOBIS Electrified Powertrain won the Midsize Deal of the Year.

"An extensive team of appointed volunteers from the Development Authority of Bartow County, their counsel, county officials, utility expers, state team members, landowners are among the many team members that supported the project," Lemmon said. :The company, too, had so many experts to work with us throughout the process."
